The head of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey said in a radio interview followed by “Shafaq News", that “ the use of U.S. air capacity to target the rebellion leaders is one of the options that are being prepared in order to be ready and the President is studying ways to support Iraq.

Dempsey, said that the protection is an essential infrastructure (in Iraq) and is a part of this option.

"We now occupy a large number of manned aircraft and unmanned aerial aircrafts, use intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities, and build a picture enables us to provide support for Iraqi security forces to face the Islamic state of Iraq and Levant “ISIL” organization if a decision was taken to do so."

The Pentagon stressed that it is currently running drones in Iraqi airspace in order to "protect the American military.

Pentagon said in a statement that it has embarked used in manned aircraft and drones in the skies of Iraq, "at the request of the Iraqi government."
