Shafaq News/ Iraqi sources said that the United States threatened to use the policy of "scorched earth" against those behind targeting its embassy in the capital Baghdad with Katyusha rockets.
The threats were conveyed by US Defense Secretary ,Mark Esper to the Iraqi Prime Minister ,Adel Abdul-Mahdi in a telephone call just hours after the attack on the US embassy, the Saudi daily Okaz reported.
The sources said that "Esper" considered that the attack on the embassy prompted the re-mixing of papers and reconsider the way the United States deal with Iraqi factions loyal to Iran.
According to the sources, the US secretary of defense warned from the silence of the Iraqi government without taking any measures which will prompt Washington to use the policy of "scorched land" against pro-Tehran militias in Iraq.
