Shafaq News/ A security source in Dhi Qar province said on Saturday that security forces dispersed demonstrators from the vicinity of the provincial police headquarters in Nasiriyah city.

"The security forces, with the support of the rapid reaction forces and Swat, began to disperse the demonstrators from the vicinity of the police headquarters," the source told Shafaq News.

"The security forces took control of the place by using armored vehicles and medium weapons on al-Zaitoun bridge," he said.

The source pointed out that "the demonstrators are located near the Directorate of Education adjacent to al- Haboubi square," likely that "security forces continue to advance towards the square."

Iraqi medical sources said on Friday that 15 demonstrators were killed in clashes between demonstrators and security forces in Nasiriyah, the local capital of Dhi Qar province.

Al-Nassiriya television said that 100 people had been injured in Friday's protests in Nassiriya.

Prime Minister ,Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Friday that he would submit his resignation from the federal government to the Iraqi parliament for the purpose of withdrawing confidence from the government.

Abdul-Mahdi said in a statement that he listened very carefully to the speech of the supreme religious reference on 29/11/2019 and stated that "in view of the difficult circumstances experienced by the country, and the apparent deficit in dealing with the developments of the last two months to preserve rights and inject blood , the parliament is called to reconsider its options in this regard and act in accordance with the interest of Iraq and the preservation of the blood of its people, and avoid sliding into a cycle of violence, chaos and devastation. "

He added, "In response to this call and to facilitate and accelerate its completion as soon as possible, I will submit to the parliament , I will submit an official requesting for the resignation of the current government to enable the parliament to reconsider its options."

"Everybody knows that I have already made this option publicly and in official memos, in the interest of the people and the country," Abdul MAhdi said.
