Shafaq News / The headquarters of the leader of Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani announced on Wednesday the cancellation of the celebration of the birth and death of national leader Mulla Mustafa Barzani, due to the spread of Corona virus in Iraqi regions and neighboring countries.
A statement issued by the headquarters said that due to the special conditions caused by the spread of Corona virus in the region and neighboring countries to Iraq and some regions of the world, and in order to preserve the public health of people, we see it better to cancel the mass occasion ceremonies to mark the death and birth of Barzani the immortal for this year.
The headquarters thanked the loyal feelings of the masses in Kurdistan, who celebrate this occasion every year, stressing that the health of citizens is more important than anything else.
The first of the month coincides with the anniversary of the death of the nationalist leader Mulla Mustafa Barzani, while the 14th of the same month marks his birthday, which is an annual event in which mass ceremonies are held in front of Barzani’s shrine and his prominent political son, Idris Barzani.
For his part, the governor of Erbil, Fersat Sofi, announced in a press conference today that the occasion of Nowruz holidays will not be celebrated this year as part of the preventive measures taken to prevent the outbreak of Corona virus.
The Tourism Authority of the Kurdistan Region had announced earlier stopping the entry of tourist groups to the territory of the region from the rest of Iraq because of recording some infections with Corona.
Kurdistan Regional Government decided to suspend universities, schools, kindergartens, private nurseries and rehabilitation institutes in the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for nearly a month within the preventive measures to prevent the outbreak of the Corona virus.
Najaf and Kirkuk provinces recorded the infection of five persons with the new Corona virus, one of whom is a student of Iranian religious sciences and the others representing one family who visited Iran recently.
