Shafaq News / The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) announced the election of the co-presidents of the party after leaks that reported electing Bafel Talabani and Lahore Genki Talabani to the position.
Supervisor of the meetings of the leadership council of PUK, Mustafa Jawarsh said in a press conference that the leadership council voted on the party's joint presidency system, and no one was named to assume the two positions.
The Union’s Leadership Council will hold its meeting to complete voting on articles of the internal system.
The meeting comes within the framework of a series of meetings of the Council several days ago where it votes on the articles of the internal system, and has so far voted on more than 50 articles out of 77 articles, which is the total of the articles of the internal system approved by the Fourth General Conference on 12/21/2020.
During the meeting, the parliament voted by 70 votes for Bafel Talabani and Lahore Sheikh Genki to join the party's joint presidency.
According to the rules of the voting, the tasks of the joint presidency of the union, redefining the party’s policies, deciding on problems that may arise, have the authority to authorize gatherings and meetings, coordinating within the union’s organizational structure with all the offices of the party, signing political agreements as the primary officials, responsibility on the revenues, wealth and property of the National Union and checking the existing ones.
In addition to the two co-chairs, the Union is working to form a three-member administrative body to handle daily administrative matters.
Last December, PUK held its fourth conference, according to which it announced the establishment of the Supreme Council for the Union's policies and interests, consisting of a president and six members.
