Shafaq News / The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani met on Monday Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq.
A statement issued by the Presidency of the region stated that during the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the political situation in Iraq and the efforts to choose a candidate to form the new cabinet for the Iraqi federal government.
The statement added that "the two sides stressed the urgent need for political stability and the formation of a government that meets the legitimate demands of the people and protects the constitutional rights of the people and the components of the country. In this context, the positive and supportive role of the United Nations in Iraq has been discussed."
The statement added , "The discussion of the security situation and the risks of the emergence of terrorism again and growing ISIS movements and ways to confront them, the importance of continuing aid and support for the international coalition for Iraq, cooperation and coordination between Peshmerga and the Iraqi army, especially in the disputed areas to counter terrorism, the financial conditions of Iraq, measures to limit the spread of an epidemic Corona and adherence to the directions of the World Health Organization and health sector stakeholders, topics for other subjects of the meeting.
