Shafaq News / A source in Kurdistan Region confirmed on Monday, the closure of the Faysh Khabur border crossing, which is adjacent to Syria, east of Dohuk governorate, to travelers, while indicating that it remains open for commercial exchange purposes.
" Faysh Khabur border crossing bordering Syria, east of Dohuk governorate, was closed to passenger traffic," noting that the " crossing will remain open to commercial exchange,” The source told Shafaq News Agency.
" the crossing will abide by the decision of the Ministry of Interior of Kurdistan Regional Government to impose a curfew and the closure of crossings for a period of six days," noting that this comes "after recording more than 100 cases of Corona infection in the cities of the province on Sunday."
Faysh Khabur border crossing had allowed two stranded Syrians in the region to cross into the Kurdish regions in eastern Syria (western Kurdistan) for six days, starting from the 30th of last May, but the new procedures of Kurdistan region to curb Corona precipitated the closure of the crossing on Monday in front of the movement of travelers.
The regional authorities have decided to re-impose a total lockdown starting from 6 p.m., after an unprecedented increase with coronavirus, as the province recorded 101 cases of the virus on Sunday, the highest daily outcome since the outbreak of the pandemic.
