Shafaq News / The Parliamentary Labor, Social Affairs, Immigration and Displacement Committee condemned on Saturday the rape committed by two "criminals" in Elton Bridge district of Kirkuk governorate, calling to conduct the maximum punishment for the perpetrators of this heinous crime to be an example to other cheap people.
The head of the committee, Rep. Raad Al-Dahlaki said in a press statement today, “ the information and details that we have received about the hideous rape crime committed by two people affiliated with the human race in Kirkuk province against a woman with special needs, a crime for which we did not find any description to its ugliness so we call to carry out the maximum punishment against these criminals ".
Al-Dahlaki asserted, " the Parliamentary Labor and Social Affairs Committee, within the jurisdiction and in coordination with the parliamentary committees and relevant executive bodies will work to follow up the matter, in order to achieve the right and return a small part of the family’s dignity in general and the lady who was a victim of these rabid wolves in particular."
A videotape of a policeman raping a mentally handicapped Kurdish woman is being circulated while an element believed to be from the popular mobilization forces was filming the incident at a security checkpoint in Bardi district in Kirkuk Governorate.
The incident sparked widespread resentment and anger in Kurdistan Region.
On Friday, Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani called on the federal authorities and Kurdistan region to open an investigation into the case.
The Iraqi Minister of Interior directed to form a committee to investigate the rape of the minor girl in Kirkuk governorate, and he ordered the completion of its work within (72) hours.
