Shafaq News / The local government in Erbil to Kurdistan Region’s capital confirmed on Monday the closure of places of worship in the province, warning that Corona virus is now more dangerous than before.
"I call religious leaders to withstand more to pass this situation so that we can open mosques and all places of worship again," said Firsat Sofi, head of the local government, at a press conference after a visit to the Federation of Islamic Religious Scholars in Kurdistan Region.
However, he added, "But at the moment, corona remains a threat and its danger has increased more than before because markets, shops and commercial and industrial places have been opened," calling on residents to abide by health instructions and guidelines.
Regarding the virus, Sofi said that "the situation is moving towards stability, but it is difficult to control the situation," stressing that controlling the borders of Kurdistan Region, internal and external, is not easy for having many people in the regions and cities of the region.
