Shafaq News / Erbil hosted a meeting on Monday between the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert and Ismail Adham, the World Health Organization representative in Iraq, with the Minister of Health of Kurdistan Region Saman Barzanji, to discuss measures to combat Corona virus.
After the meeting, Plasschaert said in a statement to reporters that the situation in Iraq is not yet a cause for concern, and that medical personnel are conducting tests for large numbers of citizens.
She also praised the measures taken by the regional government, and the situation is closely monitored.
Plasschaert noted that corona wave can’t be borne by governments, but it is the responsibility of everyone to follow health instructions.
For his part, Minister of Health of Kurdistan Region, Saman Barzanji said that the meeting came as the representative of the United Nations and World Health Organization (WHO) expressed their support for the steps taken by the ministry.
