Shafaq News / A security source said on Sunday, that the security authorities in Erbil has arrested the Kurdish writer and poet ,Farhad Pirbal on the background of burning “Dar al-Wafa” book store that burned hundreds of books.
The source told Shafaq News that arresting Pirbal by the security authorities came after he burned "Dar al-Wafa “last night which caused burning hundreds of books.
The police of Erbil province in Kurdistan region has arrested Farhad Pirbal, last year, according to a complaint accusing him of insulting people.
Online activists have posted a video recording Mr. Pirbal as he hurled harsh insults at an Arab man wearing traditional Arab dress in Erbil, sparking public discontent in Kurdistan region in general and prompting the Kurdish population to file a complaint against him.
The incident angered not only the Kurdish population, but also made the family of Pirbal, to issue a statement and said that he is suffering from psychological illnesses and that he refused to deal with despite repeated attempts. Pirbal had already made similar insults not only against the Arabs but also against the Kurds themselves and other nationalities.
Farhad is a writer and a university lecturer born in 1961 in Erbil , graduated from the University of Sulaymaniyah in 1984 then traveled to Europe and returned to Kurdistan and has several books written by him.
