Shafaq News / 133 students stuck in Armenia as a result of the suspension of flights after the outbreak of the novel Covid-19 virus,The Department of Foreign Relations of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) stated on Saturday.
This is the second exceptional trip in which the region evacuates its citizens from Armenia, as this trip was preceded by a previous one where 91 students were transferred from the same country to Erbil International Airport last week.
The department said in a statement today that, under the directions of the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, 133 students trapped in Armenia due to the suspension of air flights have returned yesterday.
The statement noted that the process of evacuating citizens is being carried out in coordination between the Department of Foreign Relations of KRG and the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
And expatriates from the Kurdistan Region will undergo laboratory tests of the Corona virus with a quarantine imposed on them for a period of 14 days, according to what the authorities previously decided within the measures and instructions to reduce the spread of the pandemic.
Iraqi and Kurdish nationals stranded overseas following the closure of airports and borders have urged the federal and regional governments to help them return.
