Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani issued a statement on the occasion of the 32^nd anniversary of the genocide campaigns (Anfal).

He said, "Today, 32^nd anniversary of the largest genocidal campaigns against the people of Kurdistan, which were part of a series that was primarily aimed at uprooting and erasing the national identity of the Kurds and the people of Kurdistan."

He added, "These major crimes committed against the people of Kurdistan in front of the eyes of the whole world took the lives of thousands of innocent people, must not pass as a passing memory to remember our tragedies, but we must work to eradicate the chauvinistic racist thought, which was the main motive behind this genocide, which extended to most regions of Kurdistan, and still a deep wound that will not be erased from the memory of the people of Kurdistan.

He added, "While Kurdistan Regional Government confirms its continuous efforts to internationalize Anfal massacres and classify them as genocide crimes, it is doing everything in its power to improve the lives of the families of Anfal martyrs while stressing the need for the Iraqi state to assume its constitutional and moral responsibility to compensate those affected by these crimes and providing guarantees to prevent their recurrence in the future. "
