Shafaq News / The General Directorate of Traffic in Kurdistan Region revealed on Saturday, the outcome of traffic accidents in the region during the past year.

The department's spokesman, Asaad Karim said in a statement that, more than 4,400 traffic accidents were recorded in 2019 resulting in the deaths of 575 people and the injury of 6,080 people.

He added that the excessive speed and using cell phone while driving have come to the basic causes of traffic accidents and the number of recorded violations.

During the past year, about two million 380 thousand violations were also recorded.
