Shafaq News / The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masruor Barzani met on Wednesday, Pope Francis and discussed a number of files of common concern with him.
The meeting discussed the latest current developments on the Iraqi scene and the region, the nature of religious and national coexistence and the conditions of Christians in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
The Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), thanked Pope of the Vatican for his sermons and advice aimed at promoting the spirit of tolerance and coexistence among peoples of different nationalities, religions and beliefs in the world and the region.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the situation of religious and national coexistence in Kurdistan Region, in which all components enjoy security, peace and freedom, which made it a safe haven for hundreds of thousands of displaced people and refugees who were forced to seek refuge in Kurdistan Region due to the wars and conflicts in Iraq and Syria.
The KRG Prime Minister invited the Vatican Pope to visit Kurdistan Region.
The Pope of the Vatican also valued the role of Kurdistan Region and its government in providing the appropriate environment for peaceful, religious and national coexistence, embracing refugees and displaced people, and providing everything they needed. His Holiness ,the Pope praised the role that Kurdistan Region played in combating terrorism and rejecting violence.
The meeting reviewed the situation of Christians in Kurdistan Region, which guaranteed all their rights and became a place safety and peace for all Iraqis.
It is noteworthy that the delegation that accompanied the prime minister consisted of the ministers of construction and housing, Dana Abdel Karim, the minister of transportation and communications , Anu Jawhar, the minister of endowments and religious affairs , Peshtewan Sadiq, and the minister of the region, Khaled Shawani.
