Shafaq News / President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani confirmed on Sunday, working to make Sinjar province.
Barzani said in a speech during a conference commemorating the genocide of Yazidis, which was held in Dohuk province in the presence of a senior official that, "Kurdistan is working to turn Sinjar into a province."
"Up to now, 2225 women and children have been freed from ISIS terrorist organization," Barzani said, adding that about 360,000 Yazidis had been displaced, as well as the destruction of 68 holy sites by ISIS organization.
The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani demanded the United Nations to recognize what happened to the Kurdish Yazidis as "genocide."
"On the fifth anniversary of the massacre of the Kurds in Sinjar district, we recall with our hearts those victims who fell in the hands of ISIS in Kurdistan and other areas, and will not rest until terrorism is vanished and return the abducted victims to their homes ," Nezhirvan Barzani said in a statement marking the fifth anniversary of the massacre of the Kurdis Yazidis in Sinjar district.
"We demand the United Nations to recognize the massacre as a genocide, in order to end the repetition of similar practices," he said.
Saturday, August 3, 2019 is the fifth anniversary of ISIS organization attack on Sinjar district and the surrounding areas where it had started a massacre against Yazidi Kurds there.
Due to that attack, hundreds of thousands of Yazids have been displaced, and so far most of them cannot return to their areas, homes and properties.
