Shafaq News / The Ministry of Interior of Kurdistan Region announced on Wednesday on Wednesday an extension of the curfew imposed in the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Halabja for another five days and imposed for the first time in Dohuk Governorate for the same period, in an effort to contain the new Corona virus.
"We had previously issued a curfew for 48 hours, and after that we extended the curfew for another 72 hours, we decided today to extend the curfew for another five days," Interior Minister وRiber Ahmed said in a press conference with the local government in Sulaymaniyah.
He explained that the curfew decision will come into effect tonight at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday - Thursday and will continue until 3/23/2020, adding that "if necessary, the ban will be extended again."
The minister added that the curfew decision includes all governorates of the region, districts and all sub-districts, including Dohuk Governorate, where the curfew is imposed for the first time.
Ahmed indicated that the extension decision comes "after consulting Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani and his deputy, Qubad Talabani and discussing with all the governors of the region, based on what the Ministry of Health announced that these decisions were beneficial and have a positive impact on the decrease in cases of corona virus infection."
