Shafaq News / Former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak died, at 92 after a struggle with illness.

The former President Mubarak had entered the hospital on January 21, and after medical examinations he performed at dawn of January 24 to remove a tumor operation in the stomach then moved to the intensive care room and was still there till his death.

Who is Muhammad Hosni Mubarak?

Muhammad Hosni Mubarak was born on May 4, 1928, in Kafr Al-Mussaylah in al- Menoufiya Governorate, and he took over Egypt on October 14, 1981, succeeding the late President Mohamed Anwar Sadat, before he stepped down on February 11, 2011.

Mubarak enrolled in the Military College and obtained a bachelor’s degree in military science in February 1949, joined an infantry officer, then joined and graduated from the Air Force College and received a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Science on March 12, 1950, received postgraduate studies at the Frunze Military Academy in the Soviet Union in 1964.

Mubarak worked in the Air Force in Al-Arish on March 13, 1950, then was transferred to Helwan Air Force One for Training in Combatants in 1951, he was transferred to the Aviation College to work as a teacher, then he became an assistant to the Staff of the College War until 1959.

He was appointed as a commander of the West Cairo Air Force Base until June 30, 1966, and was appointed Director of the Air Force College in 1967, promoted to the rank of Brigadier in 1969, then Commander of the Air Force in 1972, and Deputy Minister of War.

Muhammad Hosni Mubarak, led the Air Force during the October 1973 war, was promoted to the rank of Pilot Team in February 1974, and was appointed Vice President of the Republic, Mohamed Anwar Sadat, in April 1975.

Mubarak assumed the presidency of Egypt for nearly thirty years, following the assassination of former President Anwar Sadat, and the massive popular protests that started on the 25^th of January continued for 18 days forced him to step down, on February 11th.
