Shafaq News / The "iranwire" website expects the number of people infected with Corona virus to soar dramatically if things continue as they are now, and Iran has not implemented a policy of complete quarantine in all affected areas, is likely to reach the number of victims of Corona virus in late May to 700 thousand.

A government official confirmed to the Iranian opposition website that, according to an estimate prepared by the National Center for Chemical Health and Safety at the request of the government, if the current situation does not change, the number of infections will range between 200-700 thousand at the end of May.

The Iranian official pointed out that the government figures are much lower than the real numbers, adding that the government justifies not announcing the real numbers will cause terror among the people.

The official explained to the website that opponents of this policy believe that not declaring the fact of the situation of the virus spread in Iranian cities makes it difficult to obtain immediate international assistance.

He added that the direct result of this confusion is that people ignore the importance of quarantine in the home, because they do not realize the depth of the disaster and the structural inefficiency of the government in containing the crisis.

Emergency situation

The official also confirmed that by the end of Friday, March 6, 260 people died of the virus in Tehran alone, more than 200 of them had been buried in Behesht Zahhar Cemetery in Tehran, and the bodies of about 60 of them were sent to the cities where their families lived. He pointed out that one of the measures taken by the government to prepare for the increasing number of infected patients is the establishment of a field hospital on the grounds of Tehran International Exhibition Center.

He considered that the leaders of the regime are playing with the lives of people in Iran, and he expressed the hope that international organizations would help the Iranian people, and declare a state of emergency in Iran, pointing to another problem which is the scarcity of drugs to treat the coronavirus.
