Shafaq News / New Chinese data confirmed that the number of people with corona who do not show symptoms of infection with the virus may reach one third of those who have been diagnosed with the disease.

According to data from the Chinese government, which was viewed by the "South China Morning Post", the true scope and hidden number of these "transporters silently" could be higher than initially thought.

By the end of February, more than 43,000 people had been infected with   corona virus in China without symptoms and had been isolated, but had not been counted in official figures, which were 80,000 at the time.

This information is considered to have a significant impact on the strategies that countries of the world may use to contain the virus, although scientists have not currently agreed on whether the disease without symptoms contributes to the transmission of the virus to other people or not, especially as infected people do not show any symptoms for a long period of time. During which they pass the infection on to hundreds.

The number of skeptical scientists of information published earlier by the World Health Organization has increased, according to which the transmission of the virus without symptoms is very rare.

The previous report of the International Mission to China estimated that non-symptomatic infections (without symptoms) represented 1 to 3 per cent of cases.

A group of Japanese experts led by Hiroshi Nishiura, an epidemiologist at the University of Hokkaido, wrote a letter to the International Journal of Infectious Diseases.

"The number of Covid-19 cases worldwide is on the rise, and the gap between reports from China and statistical estimates of infections based on the cases diagnosed outside of China indicates that a large number of cases are undiagnosed," Nishiura said.

Nishiura put the proportion of Japanese patients without symptoms who have been evacuated from Wuhan at 30.8 percent, a figure similar to the Chinese government’s data.

"The asymptomatic ratio could be higher among children than in the elderly," Nichura added. "This would significantly change the scope of the disease outbreak."

Experts now believe that the strategy of China and South Korea to test every person who has been in contact with a patient is more effective in limiting the spread of the virus.

Western countries such as the United States, Britain, and Italy have not tested people without symptoms, except for doctors who have frequently contacted people with Corona .
