Shafaq News / U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington's withdrawal two years ago from Iran nuclear deal made the region safer.
Pompeo tweeted “Trump announced the bold decision to protect the world from Iran’s violence and nuclear threats by withdrawing from the Iran Deal. Today, Americans are safer and the Middle East is more peaceful than if we had remained in theJoint Comprehensive Plan of Action( JCPOA).
Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated significantly since Washington decided in May 2018 to withdraw from the international nuclear agreement signed with Tehran in 2015 and reimposed major economic sanctions on it, as the situation was further exacerbated after the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad in January.
Iran has gradually backed away from its obligations under the agreement known as JCPOA in response to a US withdrawal from it.
